House Guidelines & Shared Space Expectations
Kestrel Cafe is a community creative space built on mutual respect, care, and shared responsibility. These guidelines exist to make sure everyone, artists, families, musicians, and guests, can enjoy the space safely and comfortably.

Kindness at the Threshold
Kestrel Cafe is a welcoming place for all who choose kindness at our threshold. Disrespectful, aggressive, or disruptive behavior toward staff, guests, or artists will not be tolerated. Anyone acting in a way that threatens the safety, dignity, or enjoyment of others may be asked to leave and return at another time when they are able to engage with care and respect.

Open Crafting and Community Use
When workshops or scheduled classes are not in session, Kestrel Cafe offers open crafting and shared use of the space. Guests are welcome to bring their own projects or purchase a craft kit from the shop. Purchasing a kit is not required to enjoy open crafting.

Open crafting is encouraged during community jams, music nights, and casual gatherings. Some guests may be creating art, others may be playing games, listening to music, or relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee.

This is a sit down creative environment. Please share tables, materials, and sound levels with consideration so everyone has room to enjoy the space.

During scheduled classes, workshops, or events, portions of the space may be reserved for participants. We appreciate your flexibility when the space shifts to support hosted programming.

Families and Young Artists
Kestrel Cafe warmly welcomes families and young artists, and we love seeing kids create alongside the community.
That said, Kestrel Cafe is not a play space or a playground. It is a shared environment centered on seated creation, learning, and connection. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children at all times and ensuring their behavior does not interfere with others.

Children are welcome to draw, craft, and engage at the tables or in our art room. Running, climbing, shouting, or treating the space as a play area is not appropriate here. If a child is having difficulty staying regulated, families may be asked to take a break and return at another time when it is a better fit.

Guest Artist Artwork and Shop Items
Kestrel Cafe proudly hosts work from guest artists who have invested significant time, skill, and care into their craft. Items displayed and sold in the shop are handmade goods and artwork, not toys.

Parents and guardians are responsible for their children around shop merchandise. If a child damages or breaks an item, the parent or guardian will be responsible for the cost of the item.

All retail merchandise and guest artist sales are final.

Respecting the Space
Please treat the space, tools, furniture, artwork, and each other with care. Intentional damage, misuse of materials, or repeated disregard for these guidelines may result in being asked to leave the space.

Our goal is not to police behavior, but to protect a shared environment where creativity, learning, and community can thrive.

Thank you for helping keep Kestrel Cafe a welcoming, calm, and respectful place for everyone.
